Community Services Education

At SLCC, students of all ages can find their personal passion in ongoing life-long learning. Senior citizens are encouraged to enroll in classes for a one-time nominal fee and any student can audit classes truly learning for learnings sake.

SLCC students have opportunities to move out of the classroom and into the community in a variety of service learning opportunities available through SLCCs Thayne Center for Service and Learning. From Habitat for Humanity projects to Alternative Spring Break service trips, SLCC students make a real difference.

In addition to helping individuals grow and achieve, we actively seek ways to bring communities together for constructive dialogues. SLCCs award-winning Community Writing Center brings together new and experienced writers, blending diverse voices in community publications, readings and discussion groups.

With cultural and educational programming at the Grand Theatre and across our 14 Salt Lake area locations, we invite students, their families and the public to come together at SLCC. Community and government programming on Valley Television (VTV) Channel 17 and student-run Globe Media outlets inform and entertain while encouraging greater participation in community life.
