General Education & Transfer Programs

As admission standards and costs at Utah’s four-year institutions continue to rise, general education, transfer programs, and liberal arts offerings have become a greater portion of the services SLCC provides.

More than half of our full-time students start at SLCC with plans to transfer to a four-year institution. SLCC provides a place where students can explore possible careers while obtaining a well-rounded general education and a strong foundation of core requirements that easily transfer.

SLCC’s general education courses provide a learning environment that encourages far more than the acquisition of facts. Students gain the strategies and skills they need to find and use information in meaningful ways, allowing them to:

  • Develop broader perspectives and a deeper understanding of the world and their communities
  • Explore a wide variety of topics and potential career paths
  • Prepare for educational opportunities in the workforce or at a four-year institution
  • Develop life-long learning skills
