Library Square Center 231 East 400 South
This January, Salt Lake Community College opened the Library Square Center in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City for Spring 2007 classes. This Center is SLCC’s newest, and replaces the Main Street Campus. The Library Square facility is ideal for those living and working in the downtown area, and is extremely accessible to all local residents due to its close proximity to TRAX. All SLCC students can ride TRAX and UTA busses without charge with a valid SLCC Identification Card. Library Square now offers a full-range of general education courses, with both day and evening classes to meet the needs of non-traditional working students. Spring Semester began January 8, and students can now register for Spring Half Term, a 7.5 week session that begins March 1 and ends April 26. Library Square is now the focal point for the College’s Paralegal program, which provides services that meet the needs of the local legal community including a law library with an extensive collection. The Law and Mediation Center also operates in the Library Square building, offering court-certified training classes as well as be available for use by members of the community to help resolve conflicts. For more information about the Mediation Center or Paralegal program, contact Lacey Bagley at 957-5152. Beginning in Summer 2007, the Fashion Institute and Interior Design programs are also housed at Library Square, an ideal location given the tremendous access it affords students to downtown Salt Lake City’s vibrant arts community. Custom training for businesses and employers will also be available at the Library Square location. This training, currently available at other SLCC locations, will take place at Library Square in workshop format, and will provide exceptional short-term education and training for individuals, businesses, and industry. Computer Workshops are available year-round for beginning through advanced level participants. For more information on the opportunities custom training makes available, contact Dan Trujillo at 957-4845, or visit the Computer Workshops web-site at: www.slcc.edu/workshops. Free parking is already available behind the Library Square Center building. In addition, students and visitors can avoid traffic hassles entirely by using public transportation. TRAX provides easy, convenient access to the campus, arriving just steps from the front door of the Library Square Center at the Library Square Stop. |
